We had such a lot of fun last weekend - mainly because we were in so many different places! A Few Feet Up went to Oxfordshire Science Festival for the weekend, Sense-O-Matic went to Wolverhampton on Saturday to be part of #WLVArtsfest17 and Manchester Day on Sunday, and we even sent one of our artists to prove crafts workshops at Towneley Hall!
We loved taking the periscope to Oxford's science festival; the fantastic weather all weekend meant our performers, Zoe and Jeanette, met with the huge, curious crowds and showed them the sights of the city they'd never seen before. We were delighted to take part in Artsfest 2017, appearing alongside some other great performers in what promises to be a great annual event which keeps on growing. And of course, we were proud to appear as part of Manchester's event, given the tragic event in the city at the beginning of the month. It's always special to feel you're part of something that's bringing people together, particularly in the face of terrible events intended to tear them apart.
We're looking forward to another busy weekend: we're at Farsley Festival on Saturday then off to Shipley Street Arts Festival on Sunday. We're looking forward to seeing how #SSAF2017 shapes up - especially as two members of the Same Difference team have managed the festival in the past!
It's great to meet so many new faces, share our acts with new audiences, and also revisit old friends to find out what they've been up to since we last saw them. We hope we'll meet lots more of you as the summer goes on, so be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook to find out where we'll next be taking our contraptions and characters!
Same Difference Arts was created by Natasha Glew in 2015 to make outdoor theatre and walkabout performance which was highly interactive and engaging. In 2017, as the company grew, Helen joined the team as an administrator. This blog is for anyone else who has ever dreamed of starting their own street theatre or events company; to share some of our experiences along the way.
