First designed and created for the Manchester Science Festival 2016, the Periscope Workshop offers an interactive and educational format for children (and adults) to learn about the history, science, technology of the periscope, by creating a small version of one to take home!
The workshop is available in 2 styles: 1 - Drop in, make a periscope only workshop. 2- Award winning: Informative and theatrical fun, and make a periscope at the end. By utilising a hands-on, physical and lightly comedic approach, this workshop brings learning to life. This activity transports people back to old-school technology, engages them with their immediate environment in a brand new way ... and encourages the notion that science and art can inspire each other. A typical workshop includes:
The standard workshop package (3 x 1 hour workshops within a 6 hour period) is tailored for around 40 participants, aged 8-14. Same Difference are able to offer a tailored version of the workshop, suitable for audiences of various age groups or sizes. All workshop leaders are DBS-checked, fully insured and have first aid training. |
In 2017, Same Difference Arts was awarded "Best External Partner Activity" by Southampton Science & Engineering Festival for our Periscope Workshop.
